Bandung,dkst.itb.ac.id-It's been more than two months since the POD Donation was present at the Salman ITB Mosque, but the gland and benefits are still being felt. As an exclusive portable nursing chamber, this facility represents an important symbol of collaboration between social startup, academic institutions and religious institutions in answering the needs of society. Donation, the startup of the puddle Directorate of Science and Technology (DKST) ITB, has proven that social innovation born of empathy can result in a real impact.
Donation is born of a simple but meaningful story, a mother has trouble finding breast donors, while on the other hand, another mother has an unused breast milk excess. This inequality reveals a crack in the breast-feeding support system in Indonesia. That's where the Donation began to grow as a connecting platform between needy mothers and mothers who were willing to donate breast milk.
But the Donation trip didn't stop there. Through deep research and discussion with lactation experts, Donation understands that breast-feeding problems are not just about breast availability, but also about education, support, and facilities. One of the biggest barriers to exclusive breast milk success is the lack of adequate nursing space in public places and work. So there was a POD donor, an innovation of portable nursing facilities and comfortable for public space.
The first installation of Donammy POD was installed at Salman ITB Mosque in February 2025. This location was chosen for no reason. As a centre of religious and social activities, especially during Ramadan, the Salman Mosque became a gathering place for thousands of people, including breast-feeding mothers and young families. The need for safe nursing rooms becomes increasingly urgent.
Through collaboration with Salman Asylum and the Salman ITB Mosque Building, the POD donor was present as an inclusive solution that allowed mothers to nurse to perform social worship and activities in peace. This facility is also a symbol of the openness of religious institutions to the needs of young families in public space.
Future Design of Function and Empathy
The POD donor is not just a nursery. It's a room designed with detail and empathy. In it are ergonomic chairs, worktables, baby tapers, electrical plugs and USB plugs, as well as soundproof systems to maintain the privacy of mothers and children.
Access to POD is easy and orderly. Through a web applicationhello, the user simply selects the location, fills short data, and immediately receives unique access codes. This system encourages precise use of target and order.
POD designs refer to the standard WHO and the Ministry of Ri, as well as the limitations of public space in Indonesia. Collaborate with professional interior designers produce clean, warm, user-friendly views.
During the incubation process at the DKST ITB, Donation received thorough support: from product development grants, business funding, access to mentors, to strategic collaborators connections. This process helps Donation develop ideas into functional products that society is ready to use.
The DKST ITB's own incubation program was designed to support technology and social-based startup in order to grow with a professional approach. Through Donation, the DKST ITB shows that social innovation can be triggered with systematic methods and extensive impact.
After the launch, the POD donor at Salman Mosque got a positive response from the user. Many breast-feeding mothers appreciate the comfort and privacy POD has to offer. Some even refer to the breast feeding experience at POD as the first truly "comfortable and appreciated experience.".
Vidya, the founder of Donemi, told them one of the testimonials they had ever received, "My children don't usually nurse in public because of noise or discomfort. But in this POD, he's calm and I can also rest a bit.
To Expansion and Continuity
Donation doesn't stop at Salman Mosque. With long-term missions being integrated platforms to support exclusive breast feeding and stress prevention, Donation targets POD expansion into other public spaces: the shopping center, airport, station, office, up to the temple in another city.
The continuity model of the POD Donation was designed through cooperation with the public space manager. This facility can be accessed for free by society, while Donation is in partnership with the institutional party as its provider and primary sponsor. It opens up synergy opportunities between the private, public and social sector in providing community-based health infrastructure.
The Donation story is proof that social innovation can grow from simple concern, but it evolved into a real solution with the right ecosystem support. The DKST ITB, in its role as an innovation facilitator, proves that strategic entrepreneurship, apart from capital, is the key to turning ideas into impact.
Installation of Donami POD in Salman Mosque is not just the achievement of one startup, but the symbol of collaborative spirit that can be considered between academics, innovators and institutions. Hopefully this will be the beginning of a more exclusive and friendly transformation of public space in Indonesia.
