Bandung, July 28, 2026– Directorate of Science and Technology Area (DKST) Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) through a functionTechnology transfer.again demonstrating its commitment in strengthening the campus innovation ecosystem by organizingINTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTSFor Students Activities taking place inITB Innovation Parkthis aims to build an early understanding of the importance of intellectual property protection while introducing IPR management mechanisms available at ITB.
As a university that produces various innovations and technologies every year, ITB views the protection of research results as an integral part of the downstream innovation process. Many creative ideas and research results of students have the potential to be developed into products, technologies, and solutions that are beneficial to society and industry. However, without proper IPR protection, the strategic value of the innovation risks not being utilized optimally.
Through this socialization activity, students are introduced to various forms of Intellectual Property Rights, such as patents, copyrights, brands, industrial designs, and other forms of protection. In addition to understanding the basic concepts of IPR, participants also received an explanation of the benefits of intellectual property protection in increasing the value of innovation, opening opportunities for cooperation with industry, and supporting the commercialization process of research results.
TeamTechnology Transfer DKST ITBit also explains in detail the flow of IPR management in ITB, ranging from identification of potential inventions, consultation with inventors, technology novelty assessment, preparation of application documents, IPR registration process, to utilization and commercialization strategies through licensing and the formation of technology-based startups. With this understanding, students are expected to know that ITB has an assistance system that is ready to assist innovators in protecting and developing their work.
The activity takes place interactively through presentation and discussion sessions, where students can ask questions about the work they are developing, both in research, final projects, and entrepreneurial projects. The enthusiasm of participants shows the increasing interest of students to understand how the innovations they produce can have a wider impact through IPR protection and technology transfer processes.
Deputy Director of Technology Transfer of DKST ITB emphasized that strengthening IPR literacy is the first step in building a culture of innovation in the campus environment. Innovation does not stop at discovery, but must be able to be protected, managed, and translated into solutions that provide tangible benefits to society, industry, and the national economy.
As part of a long-term commitment to increasing the capacity of the academic community in the field of technological innovation and commercialization,DKST ITB will conduct regular Intellectual Property Rights Dissemination twice every yeargs This program is expected to reach more students from various faculties and schools in ITB so that more innovations are protected and have the readiness to enter the downstream stage.
Through this initiative, DKST ITB continues to strengthen its role as a liaison between the research world and the industrial world. By increasing students' understanding of Intellectual Property Rights and the Technology Transfer process, ITB hopes that more and more innovations will not only excel scientifically, but also be able to create economic value, provide social impact, and contribute to Indonesia's development based on science and technology.
