Bandunglpik.itb.ac.id<x id="7049"/><x id="7056"/>– Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) once again showed its work in technological innovation for health by introducing Oviotrap IoT Dengue, an Internet of Things (IoT) -based mosquito egg trap tool.
This product was officially launched on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at the BEC Palace Atrium, Bandung. Oviotrap was developed by Prof. Endra Joelianto and team since 2019 with the main goal to reduce the mosquito population and help prevent the spread of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), chikungunya, and zika.
Oviotrap taken from the equivalent of Ovi, IoT, and Trap, literally means this mosquito egg trap tool with IoT has real-time monitoring capabilities that allow data from this tool to be sent directly to the user's personal monitoring center or mobile phone. With the IoT technology, users can easily monitor and control this tool remotely, thus facilitating preventive measures against the spread of diseases caused by mosquitoes. This technology also enables more accurate and rapid data collection, so that preventive measures can be taken more precisely.
The development of Dengue IoT Oviotrap is supported by funding from the Education Fund Management Agency (LPDP) through the Productive Innovative Research Program (RISPRO) scheme managed through LPIK ITB. In addition, this project also involves collaboration with various parties such as the Bandung City Health Office, the Indonesian Association of Health Entomology, Maranatha Christian University, and PT Cinovasi.
Jusan Qithri from PT Cinovasi confirmed that the Oviotrap will continue to be increased and the number of units will be increased so that it can be applied in various institutions throughout Indonesia.
LPIK ITB plays an important role in supporting the development of this innovation. As an institution that focuses on the development of innovation and entrepreneurship, LPIK ITB provides various facilities and support, both from funding access networks, research facilities, and partners. This support allows the research team to continue to develop Oviotrap technology in order to provide significant benefits in efforts to prevent mosquito-borne diseases.
With the launch of Oviotrap IoT Dengue, ITB hopes that this innovation can contribute to reducing the spread of dengue fever and other diseases caused by mosquitoes, as well as improving the quality of life of the Indonesian people.
